Default Wander is for sale, a 29' 1933 Alden Motorsailer

Wander is a lovely little Alden motorsailer and one of my favorite boats of all time. The asking price seems entirely reasonable as well. Sadly her rig was cut down a few years ago and she no longer carries any sail but I don't suppose that would be too hard to fix.

Man, that is tempting. Really nice boat.

Do we think a boat like that can make 4-5 knots under sail, reaching? Or is the sail more for downwind fun/ last resort/ stability? Anyone?

She's a beauty. I have yet to see an ugly boat designed and built in the 1930's.

The answer is yes she sails. "Originally designed as a sloop with a small cabin and open cockpit, with an engine box and tiller steering,*" Carl Alberg / Alden designed sailboat, what could there be wrong about that.

"Wander", is one of the best examples of a "Timeless Alden Design" I have ever had the good fortune, to see!

    Thank you for posting this!

Not going to sail with the rig she has now, cut down to fit into covered storage. Bummer, beautiful boat otherwise.

I love the way the varnish and paint on the deck house complement each other!

I once thought I was wrong, but I was wrong, I wasn't wrong.
