I don't eat beef any more, but I find myself daydreaming about Whataburger from time to time.

We have White Castle too. Every time we went to The Cape to watch a shuttle launch, we'd cruise up to Titusville & stock up. We always picked up a little something for the folks directing traffic at the entrance to KSC, too.

I miss our manned space flight program.

Hope the voyage is a long one.

Burger, eggs, and fries -- what my buddy & I had for breakfast the day our carrier left for the Med.

We have both. Never tried Chik-Fil-A (I don't like businesses that wear their owner's religion on their sleeves), but I have tried Sonic... and came away unimpressed.

Ate a lot of that when I was a kid, living in NJ... not aware of any in New England, though. There was a competitive chain in NJ called White Diamond; same white-and-stainless buildings, but they made full size burgers, with fried onions, and on a NY hard roll, which is impossible to get, outside of NY (it's like a Kaiser roll, but the crust is crusty, not soft)

What we need up here is Waffle House.

What they need down there is a far greater proportion of non-chain restaurants that are worth a damn.

    Not familiar with that name.

One chain which grew explosively here in New England is '5 Guys'... on rare occasions, SWMBO and I will succumb to it's charms. Gotta admit, the bacon cheeseburger is seductive... delightfully greasy

Me too but, I do it on purpose.
My first time was in San Antonio Texas back in the 80's.
The multiple Lonestar Long Necks with my brother just added to the experience.

In my neck of the woods, we ain't got nuthin' in the way of fast food.
If I ate that stuff, I'd have to drive 20 miles to the one run down McDonald's.
My health is no doubt better off for it.
I was born on a wooden boat that I built myself.

We have Chik Filet. It's not close--about 35 miles away, but we have it!

They have reached deep into the Heart of NJ too. We have one in Absecon, just outside of Atlantic City.

    Bojangles.
One of the most enduring qualities of an old wooden boat is the smell it imparts to your clothing.

one problem with nashville is the prevalence of and favoritism towards ‘hot chicken’ which crowds out your more typical and traditional black southern chicken shack

Come visit. We have a few local burger joints that will ruin you. Realsies.

Not chains. Just cats who do food right, and happen to do burgers.

Theyís load of the cows around here, see? The beef steers grown mostly around here are these adorable, thick legged, fluffy eared jobs. I always disremember the breed.

    Peace,
    Robet

P.S. There is also a legit 50s burger stand around the corner. Yes, itís the great grandson running it, now...

Agree in large part. I'm not a hot chicken guy. The fast food fired 'chikin' competition here is ferocious. My opinion on the best chicken in Nashville favors Hattie B's, which I will treat you to the next time you're here. Bojangles is my reference point but I'm open to Churches. My daughter is a Popeye's fan. Not so wild about Prince's (a shooting there two nights ago makes it a bit less savory at the moment) or the Pepperpot, which everybody in East Nash seems to adore. But I don't get it. Hattie B's I get.

    Bojangles when on the road.
