Trump's Twitter this AM: He's celebrating a 'huge victory' in the mid-term elections.

He DOES realize, doesn't he, that his legislative agenda is now officially dead for the remainder of his term... and that the House has subpoena power?
"Reason and facts are sacrificed to opinion and myth. Demonstrable falsehoods are circulated and recycled as fact. Narrow minded opinion refuses to be subjected to thought and analysis. Dead brothel owner wins election for Nevada legislative seat

LAS VEGAS ó A Nevada brothel owner and reality TV star who died last month after fashioning himself as a Donald Trump-style Republican candidate has won a heavily GOP state legislative district.

Dennis Hof defeated Democratic educator Lesia Romanov on Tuesday in the race for Nevada's 36th Assembly District, which includes rural communities and large stretches of desert in the southern part of the state. County officials will appoint a Republican to take his place in the seat.

Hof was found dead Oct. 16 after a weekend of parties celebrating his 72nd birthday. Officials are still determining his cause of death, but they don't suspect foul play.

Hof owned a handful of brothels in Nevada, the only state that allows them to legally operate.

He also starred in the HBO adult reality series "Cathouse" and wrote a book titled "The Art of the Pimp," akin to Trump's book "The Art of the Deal."

Hof was found dead at his Love Ranch brothel about an hour outside Las Vegas. His body was discovered by porn actor Ron Jeremy and a prostitute at the brothel.

Hof had spent the four previous days partying with notables from the sex industry and political world celebrating his 72nd birthday.

The brothel where his body was found is where NBA player Lamar Odom was found unconscious in 2015.

About 20 brothels operate in Nevada, mostly in rural areas. They're banned in the counties that contain Las Vegas and Reno. The state doesn't publicize how many are open, and most owners keep a much lower profile than Hof did.

So the results here in Maine are actually pretty good. Republican Governor is gone, the Maine House has a bigger Democratic margin and the Maine Senate has flipped to Democratic control. Angus King keeps his Senate seat, along with Chellie Pingree. Up North in District 2 the Democrat has a slight lead but it’s close enough that Rank Choice Voting will mean a runoff will decide the winner. So they will take the votes of the two independents and add their second choice to either the Democrat or the Republican. If it does go to the Democrat it will be the first time in over a hundred years that an incumbent will be removed from that seat.

Regardless, at the very least, Trump's legislative agenda in dead for the next two years.... and that's a good thing.
I never had expectations that Florida, Georgia or Texas would flip.

The good news is that the Democrats in the House of Representatives will now control the committees and are ready, willing and able to use their subpoena power to actually conduct oversight.

The Senate map will be more favorable for the Democrats in 2020.

silly norm. Trump has no legislative agenda. He merely uses conflict to get attention. Now that he has a fresh source of conflict he's happy as himself in ****.

The republican legislative agenda is dead, but they were out of gas anyway.

Allow me to take a stab at it. For years, liberals have derided the RWWs' ideas, and as politics have become more polarized, have started to denigrate RWWs themselves for holding such imbecilic views. RWWs now have a champion for their hurt feelings, and the lower he goes, the better they like him. His meanness gives vent to their feelings, and they revel in it.

What are you doing about it?

In all fairness, Nancy Pelosi deserves to be chosen Speaker of the House by the Democrats. If they give her a hard time, perhaps we will add some Republican votes. She has earned this great honor!

Looks like the pundits and the pollsters got this election right. They all said dems would take the house and repugs would keep the senate.

The house of course now will use their subpoena power and committee control to expose the corrupt administration. More importantly though is when Mueller gives his report to the speaker of the house it will not be buried.

I predict that Sessions will be gone very soon. With the increased Senate majority, spoilers like Collins and Murkowski have been defanged. Trump will have confirmed an AG with a spine and subpoenas will largely be ignored, just like they were when Eric Holder held the office.

Sessions will indeed be gone soon, and Collins/Murkowski nullified. But it is very unlikely that House subpoenas will be ignored when people can be held in contempt. Like it or not, SB, there's going to be actual oversight.

The party is Trumpier, with a raft of RINOS sent off. Flake and Corker are gone, replaced by two Pro-Trump women. Recall that McCain is gone, too. Not a single progressive Democrat that was new to the scene and in a competitive election prevailed. All of the budding superstars were nipped.

The idea that the election would serve as a massive rejection of Trumpism has been blown up. Trump and the Republicans have plenty of support and their voters remain energized.

All in all a very good night. Trump wins again.

However you spin it, I find it very disturbing that so many in this country (certainly not a majority) think that heading toward a fascist state with an obnoxious schoolyard bully as dictator is the proper way to go. I just don't get it. Monsters like Trump and his supporters are what we fought WWII to rid the world of. What kind of blinders do you have to have to think this is a good thing? Thankfully we now at least have a checks and balance system in place again.

Really? The House is full of new Democrats. Two of them the first Muslim women ever in Congress, the first Native American woman ever elected to the House and the youngest woman ever elected to that body. Spin won't change the fact that you lost the House to a new group of motivated and competent fresh faced men and women. Indeed nothing substantive has changed in the Senate. You had the majority and you still do. In the House, that's been reversed and largely by the election of fresh faces, most of them women. Wait until the tax returns are revealed.

Trump is not defanged, but he is significantly wounded. That he and you don't recognize this is more indication of the inanity that rules in the White House.

Voter suppression is now on the agenda.

SB, yes, Ryou may think Trump won and technically he did by the numbers but, what he won't see is most of the races were nail biters when they shouldn't have been. 49% for the democrats, 50% for the Republican. Whee, the Republican won!. And Trump went to rallies for DeSantis, how many times? And he won by a squeaker. I don't consider that at win that you should boast about.

Bless your heart, you just keep on believing that. Trump's in trouble now. The damage he can do is now very much limited, and his ability to hide embarrassing or criminal stuff is much reduced. And every day, more angry old rural white guys die, and more folks named Rodriguez turn 18 and register to vote. It's only a matter of time, Mr Blue. 'The Base' is shrinking every minute.
