    Lightbulb Dash cams

Given the number of experiences re crashes, near misses etc, anyone have a dash cam in their car?

Do you have one with a rear facing camera as well - re rear enders ?

Which make and model do you recommend?

I've heard of a few cases here where the driver's own dashcam has incriminated them in illegal driving cases.
There is nothing quite as permanent as a good temporary repair.

Our phones know where we are and how fast we are going. I wonder how long before they start ratting us out to the state for speeding?

I use dash cams in both of my vehicles. The BMW has a CYHY designed to replace the rear view mirror housing. No rear camera and it is specific to the car. The Toyota Fj Cruiser has a Halo Cam mounted on the windshield and has a rear mounted camera on the headliner near the rear window. Both work real good. The Halo Cam can be watched real time which comes in handy when towing one of my trailers as it is hard to see in the mirror. Both have gps, impact sensors and also function when someone hits or moves the parked vehicle. I have had several cheap cameras and the best mid priced one was the Halo Cam.

I have no problem with that, being a law-abiding driver. And I've been thinking of getting a dash-cam.

What are you doing about it?

considering the idiots around here and the lack of enforcement on one of the roads I drive daily (speeds reach to over 20+ over the posted speedlimit), I have been giving it a serious consideration

I bought a very basic suction cup mounted dashcam a few months ago.It has it's uses but in too many conditions the reflection of the dash is rather intrusive.

I will add to the Russian dash cam list:

    - Driving in very poor weather, usually WAY too fast.
    - Documenting Ladas and their drivers committing suicide

It is rare to see an old Lada that doesn't come to grief in one of those videos.

The road is 2 lanes in either direction with a jersey barrier between them. No shoulder on the inside. The outside is shoulder and then marsh. Very little room for error. Most people do 60mph on it's 50mph length.. but a few, like my boss, do 90+ and weave in and out of traffic like they are going for the win at Indy. When you wreck here, it's bad. One actually managed to launch their car up into a billboard by not making the turn at the top of the overpass.

Atlantic City could make a lot of money patrolling this road, but they don't. Route 30, the White Horse Pike, is considered on the most dangerous roads in NJ

There are videos that I could show....

I never had my camera turned on the several times I clipped my mirror on head-on traffic in Java.
