    Ponta do' Ouro, Mozambique.

There was a typical late-summer storm brewing, a little later on it rained so hard I thought I was going to drown. I was in a tent which didn't help.

Skye is GORGEOUS. Many of my ancestors came from Skye and environs. I'll have to post some of my pictures of Skye when I get home.

I saved the photo to clipboard, pasted into IrfanView which is free, rotated it and saved it, then posted it again.

    it's stunning. But tree-less.

Loads of trees on the blue orb ... and a bit barren on the grey 'un.

I don't mind treeless; I spent many of my younger years hundreds of km north of the treeline.

    Hence no moorings, just jetty's.

Market at Auki on Malita, Solomons.

Laulasi further along the Langa Langa (Long Long) lagoon.
    IMG_9307.jpg

Boat building timber at Laulasi. That wood was like poured concrete.
    IMG_9318.jpg

BIG boat building Lau Lasi. I think this boat, at that point, was 20 years in the building. It takes so long for people to save the money for the next fasteners and planks that often the keel rots or is eaten through before the boats are finished.
    IMG_9335.jpg

Boats are being built every where along the lagoon, but few are ever launched.
    IMG_9150.jpg

It should be a cheap place to have a boat built from high quality timber. But if you don't have a local connection they'll rip you off big time, and even then you'll probably get ripped off.
