Default A Pleasant Fall Day on the River

We always like to get out on the river in the fall colors. It wasn’t quite peak color yet but the weather was nice and She had the day off (last Monday) so I took a 'wellness' day off too.

It is a braided, meandering thing.

The channels, gravel bars, and wood shifts around every year at high water. We had not run this section this year so things were different than the last time we’d been here. Which makes it interesting.

She picked a line through some skinny water.

    And She done good.

Some critters have been enjoying the riverside grass.

Speaking of critters ... On one of the gravel/sand islands we saw some dog tracks and no people tracks around. Big dog.

Three inch blade there. Track was wider than my four inch wide hand. There were a couple other slightly smaller sets of tracks as well. It had rained the previous day so these were fairly fresh. Wolves I'd guess.

Here is a repost of a pic that Herself took the evening before showing some of the rain that came through in the distance.

George, yes those first ones were drone. Some are frame grabs from video. We shot more video than stills that day so this is about all I've got.

    Very nice!

(November 1st I move to Missoula. Cutting my gig here short by 5 months. First time that I will have "lived" rather than visited Montana since summer of 1979. There is at least one other WBF member in western Montana - we WILL have an EBS!)

That looks so appealing and refreshing. I have been sweltering all week where I am.

    Thanks for posting.

Gorgeous territory. I've rafted similar runs in Idaho. I'd go back tomorrow, but the kids want to go to Mt. Rainier next.

Out here West of the Cascades, though, we call that a creek <G>

Lovely. I've never lived in geography like that, but it's beautiful country!

What are you doing about it?
