Default I often wonder about our media

How can they cover the Trump/Haley photo op, listen to him say how the UN is now so 'respecting' of the US, and not show the clip of him being laughed at.

Haley leaving is news. Speculating as to why, why now, or who will replace her is not news.

Meanwhile, little to no coverage of kids at the border, which is apt to make some think that problem has been solved and we are no longer interning families or children.

Last time I saw an update, nearly 40,000 violent gun incidents have happened in this country year to date. We only hear about a very few of them, which is, at best, deceit by omission.

Seems to me they could take ten minutes a day to cover something other than the immediate headline.

When you say ‘often’ what exactly do you mean?
Simpler is better, except when complicated looks really cool.

You need to get your news from sources other than those on TV.

That's true. However. media of any sort ought to not drop subjects when the subjects are ongoing.

There is an extensive story about the kids at the border in today's NYT. That usually provokes lots of followup stories.

The private media is a business, it's clients are it's advertisers and it's audience is well researched so they publish 'news' that attracts that audience to it's advertisers. It's a business not a news organisation, that is often quite incidental. Then of course there's Fox/Murdoch, it's a political organisation.

NPR is covering the immigrant kid-napping, starvation in $^ithole countries, murders in Brazil, and lots of other international crises that Haley might have at least mentioned.

We don't have to wait to be fed news. We can seek out information about topics in which we are interested.
