Default NY Craigslist: Chesapeake Crabbing Skiff ( cheap)

No connection, etc. Seems a deal. Apparently a traditional build

There are two kinds of boaters: those who have run aground, and those who lie about it.

Same ad is on Maine Craigslist, so it looks like the owner has advertised in a larger area than just Long Island where the boat seems to be.
Everything changes . Everything is connected . Pay attention

Yes, the ad is all over craigslist, probably wise.
I love the boat, but don't have room for it.

    This makes me sad.

I wish I were close enough to water to have this boat. She looks lovely, but I imagine she’d turn to dust in about twenty minutes here in the valley...

Did I mention how lovely she is?

    Peace,

Pretty boat. This is the boat (in pictures; Ive never seen her in the flesh) that inspired me to get the HIC303 18' Crabbing Skiff plans from the Smithsonian and build Goldbug.

There's an analogy here to Mom's approach to training a hunter. She said that the most important gate for a hunting horse is the halt. Must be able to stand still, no fidgeting, kicking, browsing. If your horse doesn't do the halt, train it. If it won't train, sell it. If it won't sell, shoot it.

The most important point of sailing for a working fish boat is some sort of heave-to so you can pull your gear. The pic shows that this boat, like traditional Cape Cod catboats, can do the halt with no special fuss. Just point her anywhere from two or three points on the wind to as much as six or seven points, have the sails trimmed just a hair loose for that point, head up enough to take all way off, and let go of the helm. Go to work.

On this light boat, the jib is trimmed just flat enough to counter the fact that moving forward to work the gear makes the boat want to head up. This sailor knows his boat.

Hey Chris! Is your boat still in San Diego? I can't believe someone hasn't bought Paul's boat. It's a beautiful ride.
    Re-naming straits as necessary.
