Cabin top looks great! Can you tell us again what engine you have and where is the cavitation plate relative to the bottom of the hull? thanks

25hp Suzuki, and per the plans the plate sits about 1-1/2" below the hull.

I had a 25 Suzuki two stroke that I wish had never died. Replaced it with a 30 TooHotSue 4 stroke and it is lacking both in power and top end.
It would be neat to see a video of your boat from the side, from dead in the water to plane.

Playing around with online prop calculators shows me that probably my 9 pitch Solas prop might just be the best for my boat...
It's hitting 5400 rpm now,... and according to the Suzuki website their number there show that my motor puts out it's max horsepower at 5500 rpm....so now I'm thinking what is the point in trying to get to 6000 rpm?
The calculators also show my prop slip at 14% for this prop.
The four blade stainless prop actually shows more slip... around 20%...
Of course I will still run things for a bit to see,.. but I might just be at my sweet spot already... or just a couple hundred more rpm I think would be ideal.

I had an interesting result getting back out on the water yesterday....
My motor has been returned to the original height position and the 9 pitch Solas prop reinstalled.
Running wide open we could just barely reach 5100 rpm!... so somehow I've lost 300 rpm...
Now what does that mean???
My wife suggested that the only thing that has changed is that I built the motor box on there....
I guess I'll have to remove it, or at least the top to see if it will get me back to 5400 rpm....

Hmmm, no air vents in front. The ones at back look big enough, but at speed maybe the air pressure drops in back.

It was in the upper 80's yesterday.... first day I have run in those Temps...and the cover has to make it hotter in there too...��

The 25 hp might be a tad underpowered for a 22' boat.
The 25 hp Tohatsu on my 16' Jericho Bay Lobster skiff pushes it at 26mph wide open.

Well, decision made....
Motor box has been taken off.
I think the motor just needs to breathe more...cool air... not hot air inside the box.
Cutting in a ton more vents just defeats the sound reducing benefits...
I saved the pieces parts for now, in case I want to try it again in the future, but I doubt that's gonna happen.
Now I just gotta touch up some paint and move forward.

I'm not disappointed at all with how she performs.
I never expected a speedy boat. She runs 18 - 19 mph and I'm happy with that.
Rides the waves nice.
It is just weird how I lost 300 rpm's from the last time when the motor was in the same position....
I'll get it figured out... that's part of the fun.

Yeah, I never posted those pics, but I did cut two 2 inch diameter holes on the front side if the box for air to flow through.

Put a bimini on the boat yesterday...
Went with a 6 foot long one so we still have room to stand up aft and man the fishing rods.
It's tall enough to still be able to stand up to drive...
Doesn't do much for the lines of the boat... in either position... up or down... but a necessary evil, I guess.
No more roasting in the sun.

We had our first good fishing trip this morning....
6 keeper size walleye plus we kept a white bass and a perch.
The wind and waves started to kick up in the 3 to 4 foot range so we came in for the day.
Oh yeah.... She got a name over the weekend....

Really nice ;thanks for posting the process. That ladder is exactly what I need to rig befor I get my old ass in trouble . I've printed this out to put in my boat bag -a first step .A ladder may obstruct my transom mounted engine in a tight turn: another advantage to haveing a moter well .

"Before I get my old ass in trouble" is exactly the reason that ladder is there!
My very good friend reminded me that I will need it if I am out by myself and go in unexpectedly
I haven't used it yet.
Maybe when the water warms up a bit.

This morning I proved to myself that I can launch and retrieve my boat single handedly.
No trouble doing so.
Didn't stay out on the lake though.... I felt it was too rough to risk being out alone.

You can build a sun screen using timber - though it is time consuming & complex!

We were on the water by 5:30 this morning, and back to the ramp with our limit of Walleye by 9:30....
Fish are cleaned and I am chilling for the rest of the day.

Lake Erie was like a sheet of glass this morning...
I was able to really let Sisu run for the first time...
With myself and a 3/4 tank of gas I was running consistent 20 mph.
This is with my Solas 11 x 9 prop.
Came home with one walleye, but still a great vacation day.😎

Great day fishing on Lake Erie yesterday...
We got 8 walleyes... threw back a few 5-6 pound cats...
Went out in 1-3 foot waves... headed back in once the wind kicked up and waves were building up in to the 4 foot range.
I'm really enjoying getting to know this boat...
Coming back in at 3800 rpm and about 10 mph was a nice, comfortable, but not too slow ride...
There's no reason to run flat out all the time... she is quite happy and capable at the slower speeds too.
