    Default Sleeping Dogs

I love to look at a sleeping dog: such utter unselfconsciousness. Bliss!

Here are some favourites from the album.

Our dear departed Ruby and sister Cathy's dog Rudy, in the afternoon sun.

    Ruby could fall asleep anywhere–

Mid-afternoon snooze on the Green in Desolation Canyon–

Sacked out on the kitchen rug–

Here's our new dog, Copper, a Catahoula Cur, letting it all hang out–

    More dogses—

Ruby looking gargoylish (is that a word?) I woke her up. . .oops.

Dogs seem to love pillows. Toss a pillow on the floor and the dog will flop down on it.

Our new pup likes to curl up in a compact ball.

The glass eye is a characteristic of the Catahoula breed. You can see the faint leopard spotting in his coat.

When we had to evacuate for a forest fire, Copper and the Moon Cat loved the big bed.

    Catses are good sleepers, too.

    Sleeping dogs are mighty cute.

Unless they are also imitating Pless... way less cute <G>

It’s really hard to define ‘virtue signalling’, as I was saying the other day to some of my Muslim friends over a fair-trade coffee in our local feminist bookshop. (Lucy Porter 2018)

When my last, Talulah, went, I waited too long. It was too hard to get a new dog.

This dumb thing we ended up with made me realize how much I missed a dog, though. They are such elegant companions for filthy animals. I’m sure nobody I’ve known has been as emotionally attuned to me as my dogs.

My really favorite moments with Lucy are when she’s in “good” grass, and thinks nobody is looking. She’ll do the dog-back-scratch-wiggle, maybe bite at her feet or own tail, make little growly noises, and grunt, sneezing away like a fool.
    Until she notices somebody watching.
Then she flips over quickly, into a sphinx pose, then she darts off like a maniac at full speed. The full speed runs always look hilarious, as her jowls get to flapping, which makes her speed seem exaggerated. She always look like she’s pulling 152Gs when she’s running.

    Peace,
    Robert

Yep! Directly under the chop saw. She could care less. Even the vacuum is nothing more than another game in life. Unlike her direct relation predecessor, Ula, she can be quite the mischievous little bitch. I regularly go from absolutely adoring her to looking into signing her up for the next Sputnik mission in an instant.

    Thanks Paul!

Oh, YES! The “sleeper” dog, as it were. So much fun, especially compared to the “image”.

Miley and her pups were accomplished sleepers too. She is sadly also recently departed.

Brings to mind the expression "A well turned ankle". I came across that perhaps 50 years ago and it just stuck. It was, in fact, in some British literature.

Dates from the time when dresses were long and bulked out in various ways, so that all a fellow could see was a well turned ankle

Standard Apricot Poodle. Rescue dog. Kind, gentle. Former family had trouble, dog was too much for them.
