I have to wonder if that whole platform is going to get carried away within the next day or so. I hope not.

Flag's looking rough.. and the pole is vibrating.. maybe should have taken it down just to save the pole.

Thanks, Ian.. been a few years since I stood at the oceans edge & watched a hurricane come in..

Earlier about 12:50pm CDT that flag was completely intact.

No flag now visible- camera seems to have rotated.
PS: now moved back again. Looks draughty.

I would hope not. If there are they're likely toast. I checked at 3:50 CDT - about half of the flag remains - including the 50 stars.

That's not even wound up yet either. Reminds me of flying hurricane evacuation in the Gulf of Mexico - two hours on the outbound leg to pick guys up, 30 minutes back to shore and 30 foot waves.

It's nice to have a wind indicator (the ocean itself is excellent), but a flagpole next to the heli-deck is an invitation to losing a tail rotor. I suspect it's just for this occasion.
The best statement I've seen from this latest carnage came from a student who lived through it -

"My generation will not allow this to continue!"

that's a web-cam up at the beach in Nags Head. Nags Head is quite a distance up the coast from Wilmington. Just a few miles south of Too Little Time's place in Kitty Hawk.

I peeked at 9am 9/14/18. It looks like a new flag. The wind is blowing in a different direction but it has died down and it is much calmer. So someone must have been on the platform to replace and raise the flag.

" The Frying Pan Tower live cam feed was showing “highlights” on Friday instead of live footage, so the flag in the feed appears to be a new one, but Neal says the one he got from Flag and Banner has not been raised yet. "

The storm is still there.. the flag, shredded.. and the feed appears off.

byw, according to articles listed by google, the cam and the flag are now famous.

Thanks. I saw the "highlights" earlier this morning and watched for a bit. I suppose it was still dark at Frying Pan Tower. When I looked later there was no "highlights" label and it looked like a live feed as far as I could tell. And yes it's come up in my FB feed and news sites.

    Posted on the webcam site:

"The network remains down. Please watch these recent highlights from the storm until we are able to bring the cameras back online."
