    Default "Brewster" Progress

8 years into this, and I finally got the hull painted!! Thank you all for the helpful painting threads and advice leading up to this. I went with Interlux PreKote then finished with 2 coats of Interlux Brightsides (Flag Blue), wetsanded between coats. Slightly thinning the paint with the brushing liquid 333 really helped with the application!

It only took 12 people, lured with beer and bratwurst, to flip it back on the trailer. See photo (Brewster 8)

I am sure i will have many rigging questions as begin the next phase of this project.

P.S. If this boat design jogs any memories, or looks familiar, please let me know. We never found any numbers during the total restoration. She is 18' on deck and 6.5' beam.

Where did you the the bow eye plate? I have struggled with the idea of putting a bow eye through my stem, and have been very reluctant to do it. Your solution is what I would like to do.

Please let me know of the source so I may get one too.

    Default Bow eye plate

The bow eye plate was original on the boat. I am actually planning on installing a bronze bow eye on the boat. As you can see the angle of the strap to the trailer is not ideal.

There was a great thread on bow eyes not too long ago that covered the pros and cons, and while i love the uninterupted line of the bow currently, I think it will be much easier to get her on the trailer with one.

Bristol Bonze has some really nice bronze bow eye plates if you are looking for them.

Very nice. What not a better way to see if the primer is going to stay on than putting it to the test.
