Default Launched my wee pram yesterday

This is a Whistock design (038) in epoxy glued 8mm marine ply. The 'real' wood is Utile. Findhorn, where we moor our sailboat, is in the background. We are on the Culbin Forest side of Findhorn Bay, our first row and the boat performed well.

It’s really hard to define ‘virtue signalling’, as I was saying the other day to some of my Muslim friends over a fair-trade coffee in our local feminist bookshop. (Lucy Porter 2018)

    Yep, Proper job.
It really is quite difficult to build an ugly wooden boat.

Thanks for the kind words. We normally use an inflatable for our main tender, and will continue to do so for cruising, but for messing about in the bay and visiting the boat for day sailing this little pram should be just the job.

Nice. Who could be distracted by a mere yacht when a tender is as beautiful as that.

Mr Whisstock says 64Kg or 141lbs for a plank on frame version. Mine is 8mm ply but I have used a lot of heavy hardwood for thwarts, transoms etc. so saved a bit and added a bit My wife and I can carry it easily, so I reckon about 150lbs.

My congratulations – you made a beautiful job of building her. I think she is probably the first glued ply lapstrake version of that design – previously she has been built in traditional clinker on steam-bent timbers (the original design) and cold-moulded. A great job!

And many thanks for allowing me to use the photos on my website – I used to have others (in pre-internet days) but they got lost along with a lot of others when I moved to the States

    Cheers -- George

At the Hobart show last year at least one owner's tender got more attention than his boat!
