I am planning to be there with the new boat (not in the show).

I'll repeat my question: Will we have the usual Sat night Elbow Bending Session, and will it be at the beach-bar just west of the harbor entrance? Inquiring minds wanna know!

I have AES, aka Active Elbow Syndrome, and need the weight of a pint of good ale to keep it healthy.

I vote yes, of course. I don't know if there's ever been a set time other than: about 6pm. In past years, when I got there it seemed as if many others had already put a good dent into their chair.

The Wee Nip, I believe this was from last year. After falling over the previous year, I was a bit surprised to see it come back.

Absolutely! The EBS is on! The Wee Nip at the Point at 6 PM on Saturday is still a great time.

Also - you are hereby invited - if you come - to the Coots Breakfast/Brunch - Saturday morning. Our motto is 'no fees - no rules - no doorprizes... so you are a member if you declare yourself so.
    Where/when is this happening?

A friend in PT offered me a spot on his shop floor for my bedroll, so I'll be there Fri-Sun.

Nice. Hope to meet you there.

Will there be name tags? How am I going to keep track of all you guys? Back East we could always count on Margo to bring the name tags.

Looking forward to seeing/meeting you all, too. No idea how y'all will be able to identify me. I will *not* be lugging around a bronze anchor or a folding dinghy...

Where's the Coots Breakfast happening on Saturday? I'd rather that than supermarket doughnuts...

The last few years, it's been at the Chinese joint on the point. Next to the 'Otter Cafe' (which we kinda outgrew). It's more 'brunch/lunch' than breakfast. *Certain* Coots struggle to arise at the breakfast hour <G>

We'll be up there and with a little luck run into some of youse guys. We'll be with three other couples and am hoping to spend some time on the water rowing a Shearwater that I just bought from Richard Stover (I haven't had time to work on my stuff, and Richard needed room for a kitchen remodel). If you see me floating around, say "HI!", or at least don't throw rocks

What's the anchorage like in Port Townsend? I last anchored there in '79 in a much smaller boat. I have some inclining that it's a marginal anchorage

All packed and ready to roll tomorrow at oh-my-god-its-early o'clock. Got Goblin's brand-new name boards mounted while the paint was still curing. Lettering by the lovely and talented John Carlson, who's working on getting his beautiful North Shore Dinghy all set up for sailing.

So far the weather up here is nice. I launched this afternoon and sailed across Port Townsend Bay. I am spending tonight at Flagler. There is a forecast of strong winds on Thursday and rain on Friday. 5751E63F-E3E1-47D3-9D7D-AC8A8DCE2865.jpg

Closer to shore the better. I’m told there’s a ledge that everyone tends to set in the edge of.

Be very careful anchoring out there, do not be lulled into a feeling of safety by other boats.
The wind can switch and howl from the south in the middle of the night.
Current out there is substantial too.

One year during the Festival a strong southerly blew three boats onto the beach.

We’ve been watching the weather forecast for the weekend for the last few days. And it changes completely twice everyday. That makes for fun packing.

In understand it's good enough for the expected conditions, and that he shallow indent just West of the ferry dock is decent. But if it kicks up at all, I'd be putting down insurance tackle. We had one blow a few years back when several boats ended up on the beach. It's a soft beach... but there was still enough damage to make everyone cringe.

If crap threatens, Before dark, pickup and steam south a few miles ,anchor up behind Marrowstone. The water shallows more gradually, bottom is better.
You can be in 4 foot waves and 30 knots of breeze, 100 feet off a rocky shore, in the dark, cold ,rain ,cussing at the chain snatching the windlass while the boat pitches in the waves .Super dangerous.
Don't ax me how I know this. (85 or 86 I was there with Woodwind, s##t storm)

oh ill be tenting in the fairgrounds tonight ,wednesday

Wait 'til you meet Mary. You'll learn why she wouldn't fall for that one. On second thought, wait 'til you meet Steven & then you'll know why she wouldn't fall for it.

Have a great time guys! I gotta get back out to PT soon.

Thanks for the info about the anchorage. Sounds as questionable. It's certainly exposed to anything from the south. The Coast Pilot says the same thing Wizbang did, but in a drier tone.

At the moment, light wind forecast for the weekend. Good omen for anchorages and paddlers.
