    I see you and raise you . . . .

Reminds me of the place in Chapel Hill called 'He's Not Here'.

Hope the voyage is a long one.
May there be many a summer morning when,
    with what pleasure, what joy,
you come into harbors seen for the first time...

There are two kinds of boaters: those who have run aground, and those who lie about it.

Simpler is better, except when complicated looks really cool.

"Almost 6 foot"? You know that Joe Average is about 5'10 or so and that's "almost 6 foot"? If you're not 6'2" or more, you're not really all that tall these days. I'm 5'10.5" or so. Almost 6 foot as well.

There was/is a bar in Culver City called "The Office". Must be handy when calling the wife: "Hi Honey, yeah, I'll be staying late tonight at The Office...."

There's at least one yacht called "the office" on Port Phillip Bay.

I used to sail with a Judge. He named his boat "The Bench". I suspect that when incoming callers were informed the the Judge couldn't speak to them because he was on the bench that he wasn't really on the bench but was on "The Bench"

Sunset Beach, CA boasts a tavern named Mother's. It was already old when I drank there in college.

Over the door of the Blue Max officer's club in Vietnam -
"Everyone brings joy to this place. Some by entering, some by leaving."
The best statement I've seen from this latest carnage came from a student who lived through it -

"My generation will not allow this to continue!"
