    Default fl0ating h0me pr0n

Houseboat, float home, or barge, I've always wanted a home where I could change the view.

This is a lot of fun to think about. . .

Kept to 12 feet to satisfy moorage requirements this could be widened to 14 x 38, the house could be to any taste one prefers.

But you'd have to wear a PFD 24/7. Lucky they are so comfortable.

There is an old casino that has been sitting near here unused for years that you could probably pick up pretty cheap.

I like the idea of a shanty, a lot, but this might be one of the few areas where I'm more inclined towards a modern design. For me the emphasis is on home, and not so much boat.

Really, I think a stern wheeler would be ideal. Just enough house, just enough boat.

Sausalito had a barge that looked like an island in the late 80's.
What happened to that, you know Ted?

Very common, particularity for the larger of the breed. Besides, where else are you going to put your workshop?

they are cool, but there are very few places in NJ where you can dock one. I only know of one marina in the area, and it's not one of those places you would want to dock ANYTHING. You also pay property taxes on those things here, they tax you by the square footage of "shadow" you put on the bottom.

They are dying everywhere, victims of the gentrification of view. Marinas that accept float homes are becoming rare, or they are planned communities where you pay through the nose.

Camping 2017 075.jpg"you pay through the nose." Not if you know of a secret little hidey hole 10 miles from the nearest habitation. Working on it, just have to live long enough.

Perfect. I day dream about places like that, with nice little fast moving stream for a micro hydro setup. A second float for a veggie garden and a small greenhouse.
