    Default Denver, CO Sailing?

    Hey All,
A close friend/fellow sailor is moving to Denver, CO soon and she’s inconsolably upset about loosing sailing opportunities. Her time there would be made so much more bearable if she thought she might be able to get out and surf the breeze once in a while. I’ve never been to that part of the country, but sympathizing with her as I myself would be inconsolable at the loss of sailing, I thought I would poke around and try to find out if there was any sailing to be had in the illustrious Denver area.

So, to that end, is anyone here from Denver? Can you find opportunities to sail that far above sea level? Do they exist? If so, what are those opportunities? Any public sailing programs?

    Much obliged all!

I once bought a Merit 25 from a fellow in Colorado Springs (just south) who raced regularly on some of the nearby reservoirs. There's water to be had of you're willing do drive a few miles.

There's sailing on Chatfield reservoir https://www.communitysailing.org/

There are a few lakes 1 to 2 hours away.

The Denver/Boulder Power squadron is very sailing oriented.

    There's a nice club, that's more of a meet up group http://www.saltydog.org/membership.html

Lots of keelboat racing up on L Dillon, in the hills W of Denver. Keelboat racing on Carter L, between Boulder and Ft Collins. Dinghy racing in Longmont, and plenty of sailing going on in S.Denver at Cherry Creek res.
