I've used closed cell polyethylene foam for buoyancy - https://www.kewell-converters.co.uk/...ethylene-foams
Thanks for the link on the foam, how did you us it? Did it last? Any issues?

Lead as should be 7.5% of the waterline length but may have made an error when I moved the board backwards.

Sometimes you just have to work things out yourself to realise what people have know for a long time and looks obvious - but it is all about the journey

These are just very rough sketch models

The red tank 152kg 335lbs, this is the material required which though better than side tanks still quite inefficient use of plywood

The yellow tank 122kg 270lbs which because one third is for free, the transom is very efficient

Going to go through the same process for the bow tank and a side benches

In canoes and kayaks, commonly as vertical longitudinal bulkheads about 75mm thick - occasionally as transverse bulkheads - and once carved as a saddle.

Held in place with either an embedded alloy plate and screwed through or glassed in place - carves easily with a breadknife and appears indestructable.

Thanks. I will look into that as an idea

So I figure a rear tank can be created from one sheet and with flo-mo’s two sheet H 14 design a 3 sheet boat with flotation feasible or the bigger pooduck would make it 4 sheets.

think you are referring to mini cell foam, looks good. Like the idea of using it for floatation at gunwale level, more to do but about to loose connection

Have used both minicell and the coarser stratocell (closed cell p.e.)

I think I would make the daggerboard case at least 100mm longer than the chord of the board. That would allow a bit of latitude for adjusting the CLR position with spacers or wedges.

Base on flo-mo’s development of Joel White’s PooDuck

Moved mast forward again and added tanks for 220kg 485kg of buoyancy

This can be achieved from 4 sheets

Could move the mast back and add a jib

As above with mast backwards and board trunk lengthened.

This shows capsized position with 100kg of buoyancy.

A little more detail. Happy with the concept.

Thanks, all free CAD. Hull design in DelftShip (needs laptop) gets transferred into Onshape to go the details - that is just on an iPad

Gone a bit off piste, this is three sheets of ply. Running out of battery. But basically designed around a tent on top

It sounds like I am considering a somewhat similar set of requirements. I keep coming back to a small cat with the capability to pitch a tent on it, even if I have less rational preference for a small tri or outrigger.

Do you mean free CAD or the program Freecad?I can fumble through several CAD systems but Freecad is really frustrating. It is so nearly excellent and just needs a tiny bit more documentation and it could dethrone several of the commercial packages.

I mean CAD that is free which in this case is Onshape it is web based so you need Wi-fi (not data heavy easily, use it hotspoted to my phone ) and for the free one everything is in the public domain- the plus is I is available on iPad and easy. I have used a lot of commercial CAD and it is super easy to use

A few more details, not really what I am looking for, think more in the boat shelter better for my requirements
