    Default Dinghy ID help

LOA 10 feet . 4 foot beam. Any help would be appreciated . I thought it was a Fairey Marine Duckling but the planking is for and aft unlike the diagonal planking of a Duckling. No tags or decals anywhere. not even holes from a plaque. A small diamond shaped tag under seat with number.looks like aluminum. Molded process from the 1960s looks like. Thin veneer inside and out. Gaff rig , small wooden mast and daggerboard. Thanks. IMG_3554.jpgIMG_3552.jpgIMG_3553.jpgIMG_3555.jpg

I think that there is a Peanut.Highly desirable boat. Built in Norway? My family had one. Sadly, it disappeared. That boat is , indeed , a Windfall.

Yes. A Peanut. My godfather had one. They all had the blue sail: https://www.google.com/search?q=pean...w=1247&bih=872

    nutshell 001.jpg

    Good afternoon,

The same boat used to be built in fibre glass by a company called Finn Andersen in Durban, South Africa way back in the 1960's.
The company no longer exists. The boat was known locally as a Nutshell. But it is the same boat as the Peanut.
Despite this advert showing the boat as a gunter rigged sloop, the few that I saw sailing all had the pale blue lug sail rigs. They were popular boats here and were mostly found as mess-about boats at holiday homes on the coast. I still come accross them from time to time, lying underneath a hedge, the wooden trim rotting away.
I will place a picture by seperate post.

    Regards.

We're going for it ! Not going to be a museum quality restoration. Just a good repair and varnish so the customer can use it safely with his kids. IMG_3625.jpgIMG_3626.jpg

He says his pond is too small for the boat?? That's a new excuse!

There are two kinds of boaters: those who have run aground, and those who lie about it.

I think it is a Peanut as well. Good little boat, I used a friends boat for a couple of years.
