Default Wooden boat meeting in Sveaborg, Finland

    Hi all,

Today is the already traditional day for the wooden boat Rally and Meet in Helsinki, Finland, a week before midsummer day. This has been going on for 20 years or so, arranged by ’Suomen Puuveneilijät ry’ that translates to ’Finlands Wooden boaters association’.

Our association has about 550 members around the country, we publish a member gazette four times a year with member written articles about all aspects of their boats, boat repair etc.

We have a website (only in finnish, as our facebook pages are...) at http://www.suomenlahdenpuuveneilijat.fi/ but perhaps interested parties can get a better idea at my picture collection from some years at https://ses.kuvat.fi/ - click on any header pictures to get more to view.

    Have a good season,
    Seppo Syrjälä

And also the facebook page of the meet, https://www.facebook.com/pg/meriviapori/posts/

Also the association has a reward for a person or asociation or such that has done something remarkable or otherwise contributed to wooden boat culture here. This year the reward was given to mr Mattsson who has teached wooden boat building for tens of years and continues training at Kuggom wooden boat centre.

Teachers certainly deserve recognition, especially teachers of wooden boat building.
Hope for the best, but plan for the worst.
