Sounds reasonable to me. I do understand the crux of the problem is cultural difference. I suppose the question is whether the desire to stink overrides the desire to be free from foul odors. Who nose?

There are two kinds of boaters: those who have run aground, and those who lie about it.

I'll wear deodorant, but, as an American, I insist on my God given right to chew as loudly as I want

Loud chewing is really, really disgusting. But I guess it's a personal thing.

Actually, back in the day (mid-late 60´s) an advertisement for deodorant on London´s tube trains stated in no uncertain terms :

"Hands down all those not using MUM" !

As for the defaulters, being caught suddenly off-guard by the ad, saw them release their grasp on the overhead grab handles

    Point made.

I rode the Channel Ferries two weeks ago. No smelly passengers but a wonderful visit.

We took a smaller competitor’s line, Manche-Iles, due to a better sailing schedule.

But we did tie up next to (under?) one of the larger Condor ferries.

The Commodore Clipper is the all weather freight and passenger service. Most cars and passengers go on the Vomit Comets.
