    Default Water Heater: What Material?

I am replacing the worn out water heater on my boat with a new one. I heat water with the engine and electricity.

The replacements have either a stainless steel exterior or one of galvanized metal. The latter is cheaper.

Is it worth it to pay for the stainless?

Stainless is prettier. Does the cheap external suggest inferior internal componentry? I'd imagine the cost differential of a stainless exterior compared to galv would be negligible, and the real, savings have been achieved elsewhere. But that's just a WAG. The Chinese use stainless like it's going out of fashion. So I'd be checking out the detail if possible before deciding on price.
