Default A small miracle this morning

Our house sits west on a bluff with clear views over Admiralty Inlet to the Olympic Mountains. We sit in a clearing, then the east of us are thick woods/forest of conifers mixed with the occasional alder. Everything right now is in full leaf, of course. Our driveway is about a hundred yards or so that meanders out to the road. Our bedroom window faces north east.

So this morning as I got up I realize that there is a sun beam hitting the wall next to the bed, and I marvel: a ray of sun, photon particle or wave as you have it, travels 93 million miles from the sun, penetrates the planet's atmosphere, snipers its way through a very thick forest, and then ends its life splattering a small shard against our bedroom wall, turning into a tiny amount of heat.

Rather remarkable than it was able to get to us. A minute or two later it was gone as the sun moved.

Lovely, Gerard! I often think that the little miracles are the best. The fact that we live with them every day does not diminish them in the slightest.

Somewhere an agave plant grew, and a lime tree grew, and I have a large box in the kitchen that’s changes the state of water molecules and it ends up here in front of me for just a few minutes.

    I love those moments!

Me and some friends set a huge bonfire, made entirely of a single tree that had been ring barked many many years before.

As we stood feeling the heat i thought, this tree stood here in the blazing Australian sun for a hundred or more years. Growing by capturing the energy from the sun. Now as we stand here, we are releasing that energy again - that the heat we were experiencing was actually sunlight that fell on that tree for over a century or more. The heat and the tree became far more precious.

And you, as a conscious part of the universe, are present to witness it. That's a miracle

    What a great thread.

I too had an amazing thing this morning. I went to a small glass enclosed cubicle in the room right off the bedroom, turned a knob & hot water squirted out of the wall just above my head. I climbed in & luxuriated under it.

My small miracle was coming home from the shop to find that the boys had done such a marvelous amount of yard work, and helping their mom get the vegetable garden planted. I knew they were coming over today, I had no ideas how much they'd get done.

Everything is moving. It just depends on where you are standing.
It really is quite difficult to build an ugly wooden boat.
