    Default Albuquerque to Denver

    Hey Westerners...

If you were to break the drive from Albuquerque to Denver into 2 days and spend the night someplace interesting in between, where would that layover be?

Adding a few hours to the total drive time isn't a problem.
I'll be rolling with wife and littlegirl. A 5-6 hour day on the road isn't a problem, but an 8-hour drive becomes 12...

Well, there's always Taos, if you don't mind taking a longish trek overall.

Google Maps says its 6H25M between the two cities.
And that's if you do the speed limit.

Chaco Canyon and Durango are worth your time. Taos is one of my favorite places to wake up in the morning, for reasons I’ve never completely understood.

I haven't been through there since the early 70's but it was certainly lovely...

When are you going. I'll be in Denver from the 10th. Herself is getting a new knee (possibly, she has a pretty serious cough right now). I f she has the knee op, we probably can't accommodate you until the 24th. If it fits your schedule, there's loads of room. Bonnie Brae area

    I loved Taos.

Highly recommend taking a tour of Georgia O'Keefe's home in Abiquiu. (Not sure if that makes sense with a small child, though.)

We'll be back down there in a few weeks. I think we're taking a tour of Ghost Ranch.

Also, consider taking the High Road to Taos from Santa Fe.

If you're going via I-25, think about spending a night in Trinidad, CO. It has a striking location in butte and mesa terrain, nice old-style downtown with redbrick streets, some good places to eat, and several nice B&Bs, along with the usual motel chains.
