Carriacou Sloop "Genesis" broke her gaff (gunter) on the first day of racing, so I was called in to do an all nighter ...It was a Dr Pepper job, gluing at 10,2 and 4 .

Im a sh##ty race crew on a good day, and Im not %100 from my broken neck/concussion yet, so THIS was my regatta.
We bent the spar on @0830 next day and she won .I stayed on my boat and slept.

I never knew Columbia's deckhouse was so tall. Completely scratches her looks in my view. It should be a good 8-12" shorter and then it would look great.

The fellow that owns Columbia is a one percenter that chooses to lime with the likes of us . He has a huge family that even like to hang with him. I was taken aback by that big box as well... until I learned of its better purpose. I recon it’s like the ugly box that s on my boat .

So, Genesis gets hauled after yesterday’s race, I dingy sail over there ... I’m like ... now what. The flipping wood rudder stock is worm eaten, wagging like an island dogs tail. Another all nighter last night . I’m knackered. But I’m the second on this repair, the builders son is talking the lead. Gotta get back ...

Thats me @ 48 seconds, the fellow had a "kip" in the dingy ....
Also me @ 1;42 yelling "yo Cal" ,hes taking a pee in the background.
In the sailing part of the video at the end, (3;30)you can see how far Alexis is pulling the tiller up...! That was the day before the repair. The worm eaten rudder blade was literally wagging around on the post .

Wiz - thanks so much for sharing the event. And esp. the look behind the scenes. Reminds me of bolting on hardware and running lines as my brand new boat was carried to the Start for the 2008 PDR nationals.

Oh my, what a great shot of Columbia!

I captured this one off Gloucester harbor last September, not half as nice as yours, but fun as it's on the originals home water.
