Yes. I’m not much of a touchy-feely person, I wasn’t brought up that way so for me the squeeze of a hand is very much a conscious act, which I make because I understand the importance.

Thanks for the updates, Duncan and Gary and others.

We know Peter likes music. Is anyone able to play some, or to sing for (and maybe with) him?

Continued wishes for a peaceful journey for Mr. Sibley.

Too late! He actually liked it, and I was - like - saying WTAF?

I'd have to find it again. It's on the system here, but I would actually have to find it again, so it might be easier if the clod could send it to this clod again.

Duncan, If peter is up for a few words, and if he's not swamped by visitors could you give me a ring when you visit him? Not always of course but it might be an easier way to have a few words.

My phone doesn't work at all well in the nursing home Jeff. I'll see what he's like as well, and if his phone works better. I'll likely be there in the next hour or so.

I haven't visited today or yesterday Emily, but I will visit tomorrow. SWIMPAL bought back some more plum wine for Peter, so I'll have to drop it off then.

I know that Peter's wife, Carol, is being given a lot of support and do hope that she is also receiving support in dealing with this tragic situation from experienced professional persons.

I ask those that are in touch, by phone or visits will let Carol know that we that are from far-flung parts of the world are sending her and Peter our best wishes.

I sent a message to Carol a few days back asking if she needed help with anything. She replied that her family have it covered. She will need help when it comes time to sort out the shed.

I went in yesterday as well and he was asleep, although he opened his eyes and let me know that he saw me. I spoke to Carol and he’s got patches on his spine for the pain, so I dare say that explains his ultra-sleepiness. She said they were going to try and get him home for an hour today.

I’m feeling crook today with a dose of diverticulitis, so I’m not going anywhere.

When I provided hospice care to my father-in-law with his brain cancer just a few years ago, i remember these days are hard, vividly recalling his sleeping, care, irritability and grief blend into the bitter sweet experience. It is a great gift to give and a greater one to receive. My heart goes out to Peter, Carol and the rest of the our extended family down there and across the world.

Take care Duncan. You are proving to be quite the friend we wish we all had near to us all.

I visited today, but Peter was asleep and hard to wake up. Tess, his daughter and her baby then turned up, and asked for time alone with him. So I'll go back tomorrow and try and help him with his lunch then.

He's not eating as much as he has been, and he's on more painkillers, so he's pretty much asleep most of the time now. I think after nearly six months, mostly in bed, his muscles have wasted to the point his spinal cord is no longer properly supported, which is the greatest cause of his pain.

    I'll report back here tomorrow.

If he is mostly not eating, then time is short. Thanks again Duncan and the Aussie irregulars for being our eyes and hearts on location.

Carol called me and said she'll call when Peter is able to engage in a phone call. Sadly, I'm not expecting any calls. Peter told told us that this is how it would go. It's too sad.

Well, the last half dozen word I heard via Duncan might be it for me. Way to sad, but then he got an extra few years and made the best of them.

One can go quite a while not eating, but not drinking means far less time.

I'll add to the thanks to everyone who has been keeping up updated. It's really appreciated. Also, my best to Carol & the family.

Thank you for the update Duncan, as sobering as it is.

As he sleeps, I hope Peter is dreaming of family, sailing under fair winds, the sweet smells of freshly worked wood, and jobs that turned out just right.

A guy like Peter is probably having some great dreams. Thoughts are with him and his family.
