    Default OK Movie thread!

What's your favorite movie from the time around age 18-26. For those of us who went to college, from those college years.

    One? Are you kidding? ONE???

That was a great time for cinema. Of course my tastes have changed since then, but I can probably think of dozens. Maybe I could pick one per category...

OK - if it has to be one: 'A Boy and His Dog'. Not what you'd call great cinema... but it remains a favorite to this day.

But think of all the other candidates...

It might be a cliche response, but I'll have to go with "2001: A Space Odyssey".

Simpler is better, except when complicated looks really cool.

    My favorites: two obscure movies:

'Putney Swope'... hysterically funny, made by Robert Downey Sr. This Youtube is actually the full movie... but watch the first 15 minutes, it's a gem!

Too many now subject events to a prefabricated set of interpretations, usually provided by a biased media source. The myth is more comfortable than the often difficult search for truth."

The other one: 'Friends', a film by Lewis Gilbert, with a soundtrack by Elton John.

I can't do just one, there were way too many good films in those years. My top favourites:

    The Big Snit
    Blade Runner
    Brazil
    A Fish Called Wanda
    Good Morning Vietnam
    Le Grand Bleu
    Heathers
    Koyaanisqatsi
    The Mission
    Powaqqatsi
    The Princess Bride
    Raising Arizona
    Roxanne
    Salvador
    Swimming to Cambodia
    The Wall

If I had to pick one, it would be Blade Runner, Le Grand Bleu, or The Wall, but I'm not sure I could pick between them.

What are you doing about it?

Reservoir Dogs. I've seen that move 1000 times.

Heathers. I've seen it 1000 times more.

While neither of the movies mentioned below came out while I was in college. I lived in a house for a year that had both of these on VHS. We probably watched them each 5-6 times per week.

^ The same two films although I probably saw them about 15 years after they were released.

Victor Erice's "Spirit of the Beehive". I'm not much a film buff, but that is the most memorably beautiful, haunting film I have ever seen. A work of genius - the sort that you can see as often as you like and find a new thought, a new idea, a new possibility every time.
