Default Photos of Of Old Wooden Party Fishing Boats: NY Bight

On a flight home this AM and came across this website, loaded with images of party fishing boats ( a.k.a, head boats, or, open boats) mostly from the New York / New Jersey Area, dating back to the late 1800s and into the modern era.. Postcards and cool descriptions of a variety of craft of various sizes and types.

These bring back fond memories. I even fished aboard--and along side some of these boats as a youngster. There are still some woodies in the fleet today.

    Here's A sampling:

There are two kinds of boaters: those who have run aground, and those who lie about it.

Sea Foam III is a good looking boat.
Simpler is better, except when complicated looks really cool.

As a kid visiting Mom's family in Erie, PA I remember a fishing party on Lake Erie out of Presque Isle Bay in a boat very much like Mikes Maritime Memorabilia back in the early 1950's.
