    Default EmmyLou

While the Hippie Chicks thread has been (mostly) fun, the rest of the news is so depressing... Here's a woman that I think we can all agree is amazing. Please post your favorites

The all-time favorite of my wife and I. After we met I was impressed with how many Emmylou albums she had.

Remember her appearance with The Band in the film, The Last Waltz? Notably, Levon Helm is on mandolin and duet vocals here.

A native of Birmingham! I first saw her at a national guard armory in the early 70's, on tour with Jerry Jeff.

Heard an interview a while back. She was asked about "The Hot Band". She sai it was composed of guys who were, or someday would be, ex husbands of Roseanne Cash.

Some of the best programmes we have ever had on TV (IMHO) were the Highland Sessions and the Transatlantic Sessions.
English, Scottish and Irish musicians, then joined in the Transatlantic Sessions by American musicians - all top notch - just jamming together in a big old house in the Scottish Highlands. No audience, everybody joining in, learning each others' music, accompanying each other.....There was some glorious music in those programmes.

Emmylou Harris was featured in the early Transatlantic Sessions. Wonderful performer. There are lots of "Sessions" clips on Youtube. Here's a sample:

Not Emmylou, I'm afraid (sorry) but this is one of my favourite Sessions clips. Isn't music wonderful?

Another non Emmylou favourite from the sessions. Lovely singer, great songwriter.
