Nice. I think that too when I have a Yeti sighting.

Yeti is a brand of very high-end coolers and outdoor gear. It is to Coleman what Porsche is to Kia. One of my buddy's sons works for them.

Ah, thank you. And from the subsequent comments, I gather they include bumper snickers with their products?

I suspect they SELL them, so that people can celebrate and further the 'conspicuous' part of Veblen's formulation.

NO,NO,No, Yeti is a brand of "Tactical" coolers, hence the inflated prices.

So... I have a Yeti on my boat, admittedly when I bought it seemed a bit extravagent, but it will work with dry ice or regular ice and keeps my stuff cold for 6 days in +100f Sacramento Delta heat. One week on the small boat with no need to go ashore? Never happened before, it is a good thing. Did I mention that it has lashing points, sticky feet and can take a knockdown, or an errant spar or oar tossed at it?

That’s obvious but don’t you remember people putting STP oil stickers on their cars decades ago? It’s natural to display ones identity in a consumer culture with the choice products you buy.

This is a liberal bashing thread aimed at a cooler company, enjoy your well made cooler and step aside. They will be on to bashing something else, probably me and you will still have something of quality that will last a long time.

Funny. I saw a yeti bumper sticker driving back from Eugene this afternoon and thought "why tf would you put that on your car." They must have just come out. The stickers, I mean.

I also have a Yeti, a soft one just small enough to be in the truck cab on road trips.

No stickers on any vehicle. Not even for Hillary.

That you think this is a thread "aimed at a cooler company" is indicative of your total lack of understanding of liberalism.

I had a chance to check one out the other day, I was impressed with how Yeti Coolers are designed and constructed. They are leaps and bounds better than coleman. I have no urge to own one, and I definitely would not advertise if I did, but did seem like a lot of cooler

I had to check them out - the prices are gob-smacking. I don't need a cooler, but if I did, I can't imagine spending three or four hundred bucks.

What are you doing about it?

It started out bashing people that advertise for a company, in this case a cooler company which drifted to company bashing in the second post. Think whatever you want, I was spot on.

Imagine the cost of a cooler made with aerogel insulation panels!

The old Dometic fridge in our camper quit while we were camping in the Florida panhandle. I was sent out by the BOSS to buy a cooler in Appalachicola. The only show in town was a True Value hardware, and all they carried was Yeti, so I bought one.
It hurt my wallet so bad I still can’t sit on it. I am so ashamed of what I paid for it that I would never want anyone to know that I did it. I’d like to get some Walmart “Ozark Trail” stickers to disguise it.

good link. No way around it, significant differences in insulation cost significant differences in money. It’s like people who want a light, cheap and durable kayak. Pick two. If you don’t need durability or a compact package it’s not hard to make a more insulated cheap cooler with aluminized bubble wrap and tape. I think you could get the same performance of a $300 Yeti with a $60 Coleman and $30 of aluminized bubble wrap, or a $25 foam box and $40 of aluminized bubble wrap. Solid rotomolded Polyethylene makes a tough box but not an ideal frame for insulation. The “three layer” or polyethyene foam core construction used in Old Town Canoes would be lighter while adding a little insulation.
