Default Woodenboat Store, little gem of a book

John Hodgman, an American humorist has written a VERY funny book that relates stories about his 'summertime life' in Brooklin, Maine with chapters about bidding for and buying a wood peapod at a country auction, learning how to launch it from a trailer, enjoying the islands and eventually swimming in the cold waters which he describes in this way: "...the waters of Maine are made of hate and want to kill you."

Buy it, beg for it from family, or borrow the book from a friend (or steal it): https://www.woodenboatstore.com/prod...k-vacationland

If I had a dollar for every girl who found me unattractive, eventually they would find me attractive.

While on the subject of good reads, I recommend,
The Boy, Me, and the Cat
A book about a trip down the intra-coastal waterway just about the turn of the
century, c. 1900 A wonderful adventure before the advent of gps, luxury marinas
and other conveniences. They were armed with a 22 rifle that had a silencer.
The gun was named Helen Keller. Google it.

There is also a "Judge John Hodgman" podcast, sort of an audio-people's-court version of that column.

He's good at finding a lot of meat in what might seem like a fairly shallow topic.
