Is this some form of protest or is it taking it out on the Country because HC lost?

a lot of people deeply resent HC loosing... a great deal of public manipulation wasted
The doctrine of nonresistance against arbitrary power, and oppression, is absurd, slavish, and destructive of the good and happiness of mankind.
Personal failures are too important to be trusted to others.

I'd say there has never been a president that wasn't a cheating, lying, lover of morons like us. How do you think they get elected?

And, since flying the flag thusly is a sign of 'distress', it can interpre... oh, nevermind, he'll never get it, no matter HOW MANY crayons we burn thru.

Truthfully, the flag should not be displayed that way for any but a true near and present distress situation. Displaying it to express dissatisfaction, or other sentiment, only de-values the inverted flag's use as an actual distress signal. Its like a false alarm.

Kevin, I agree with you in almost all cases, but if you don't think that having that incredible moron a hair's-breadth away from "The Nuclear Football" isn't a "Clear and Present Danger", I'm sure I can't imagine what would be a qualifier for you.

No pejorative context, there, just a comment as to my personal belief that this country has NEVER been in such imminent danger of sudden destruction, and even the remedy of Pence may be worse than the present disease.

The member may have been listening to tonight's "speech" at the rally in Penn.

Advocacy for the death penalty for drug dealers, mockery of the kind of behavior which actually demonstrates respect for the office of the Presidency, boasting about how he saved the Olympics, and on and on.

    To full throated cheers.

Yeah, a signal of distress, of emergency. BTW, I didn't notice which of our folks is making the protest.

The display of an upside down American flag disturbs you?

Precisely correct. In the physical world, it is a signal of immediate personal distress and peril. Though I doubt anyone would be misled by seeing a digital avatar in that way.

My 90 year old mom, affixes her Flag postage stamps upside down on every piece of mail she sends out.
As she did some of her nurse's training at Newport Navy Base, she knows exactly what it means.

Better than a cheating, lying, expert politician as president.

There's a lot of pseudo patriotic crap talked about flags. Politicians love it as long as they are not the ones in the firing line. McCain is the exception that proves the rule. Nationalism is the refuge of scoundrels.

When used to signify a nation in distress... I suppose we can just regard it as a bit of poetic license.

Just because you believe there is no "true near and present distress situation" doesn't mean there isn't one.

Boy, that's the truth! It has taken me a very long time to transition from thinking that Trump is a bad joke that we forced upon ourselves to believing he is a very real danger to democracy.

Those who would fly a universally-recognizable symbol of emergent distress simply to signal virtue on the issue of political disagreement are silly boobs.

Especially when the signaler is an elderly white man living a life of leisure, security and comfort unimaginable to most people in the world today. How utterly childish and self-indulgent.

    There are those words again.
    Bluey you are sooo predictable.
It really is quite difficult to build an ugly wooden boat.

It's all so smart-alecky until somebody sees a boat flying an inverted national flag in the near distance and instead of going to check it out, writes it off as another person simply expressing political discontent.

How would it be if people commonly fired flares, made mayday calls, waved their arms or displayed a ball and square?

By all means, people should express themselves. Please don't co-opt a distress signal to do so.

it's just a callous disregard for the common good... I's all about "ME" and how "I feel" with Democrats these days, and little thought given to real world consequences.

I know that would be my first move if my vessel were in trouble. "Never mind the radio! Get that flag turned upside down, ASAP!!!"

I'd be interested to hear of one case in which an inverted flag as signal of vessel in distress led to rescue.

    Something this century, if possible.

Or “have ready at hand an electric torch or lighted lantern showing a white light which shall be exhibited in sufficient time to prevent collision.”

I have yet to see photons prevent collision.
