Default Not going anywhere for a while....

One empty boat trailer plus my old FG canoe and my fantail launch (in the bow shed) seem to be snowed in for the time being. I hear tell that spring is a-coming. I won't believe it till I see it!
How fair the rest of ye mates?

Our season started a week ago, still no sailing. Rather regretting talking my delicate wooden race boat up three weeks ago, it has been under snow ever since.

We've had frozen mud until a day or two ago.
Now there's an inch or so of fresh powder(lol) on top of it.

Those pics make the heat and 90%plus humidity here almost bearable!
There is nothing quite as permanent as a good temporary repair.

I’ve been stuck aboard for two days of too much wind. 30 in gusts ,to safely row ashore. Charter cat dragged into my bowsprit today... think they would learn they do not win that one. They will not be barbequeing aboard for awhile.

It took me an hour and a half to snow-blow the heavy, deeep snow out of the way yesterday. Big, 32" John Deere machine, horsing it around on a side hill. Then the gear shift/speed control let go and it took off at top speed. Some fun to get it back under control and stopped! Spent this morning under it re-threading a turnbuckle. Give me a boat and its troubles any day.

We had winter last month, lasted about a week, then it was a week of summer. It's now spring, but it feels like fall is coming. Next week, the weatherman says we'll have winter. Should be just a few days this time.

I call this not going anywhere. This is the 105' sloop Mass Transit that's been more or less under construction since biblical times.

We-e-ell... snowblowers don't sink and drown their operators. That's a good thing.

Edit to add: Ian - ooops!

We had a mini-mud season the last two weeks. Temps got as high as 65F and the frost came out of all the dirt/gravel roads. Until they dry out, heavy trucks are prohibited. That's a big problem when the snow returned and the heavy snowplows can't be used. If they were, they'd be plowing up dirt and mud as well as snow. So the town is running around with a small truck trying to stay ahead of things. It's not working out well.

Probably still frozen all the way to the bottom. We have some time to go before ice out around here. http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/ice_out/i...ml?year=median
