    Companionway Hatch Doors

One of this winters projects was to build companionway doors for the boat (Mary Ellen). I'm hoping my measurements taken in the fall were accurate :-) There's a screen that slides in to replace the lexan as needed. (thats a chandelier in the reflection). All the stainless finally arrived, and installed, I'm calling it done.

Very nice. What did you use to cut the slots for the louvers?

For the slots I used a dado blade on the radial arm saw. Using a template of two slots stationed in front.
position 1st slot against first template-slot and cut
position 1st slot in 2nd template-slot and stick a board in the slots to join them
Continue to walk along the template in this manner for all the remaining slots.

            Very nice work!
I love the smell of fresh cut plywood in the morning.

I reckon the chandelier is overkill. But the doors are nice.
