    Guardian feature on the The shortlist for the coveted Bird Photographer of the Year awards has been announced by Nature Photographers and the British Trust for Ornithology.

    Huh. I wonder what the deal is with the griffon vulture snapped in Alaska. They're Eurasian ("Old World") vultures.

    The last shot of the gannet with the net is both beautiful and extremely sad.
