Default Florida passes new gun laws..

And I am sure the NRA is hammering Governor Scott hard not to sign it.

State laws are useless. You need federal laws that apply to all states unless you are going to put border checks at every state line.

You aren’t going to get federal laws.

If the Florida law is signed, it would prevent residents of Florida younger than 21 from buying a new gun, and it would prevent a new gun buyer in Florida from taking possession of his new gun for three days. This has nothing to do with border checks.

Of course people with guns could come to Florida, and people with guns could leave Florida.
Well, Mr. Botard, do you still deny all rhinocerotic evidence?

Exactly. 80 % of the guns used in Chicago shootings are bought in Indiana, Iowa and Wisconsin. Although I agree with what you’ve written, a victory is a victory. We didn’t get here overnight, we won’t get away from here over night—even though Australia did.

Would I be right in saying though , if the Police search that Chicago residents house , and find weapons bought elsewhere , that person would be in deep shyte ?.
And now an 18 yo in Florida too , would be in trouble if found with weapons?.

Yes, I guess if the cops picked the right house. The point made in post 4 is having strong laws in a location near a location with lax laws negates the strong laws. Uniform nation wide laws level the field.

    Yes , agreed.
But if Police make it known that they are going to target people who have or may have illegal weapons its going to play on the minds of those with illegal weapons.
Uniform gun laws would make their job a lot easier.

An FFL dealer will not sell a gun to a nonresident of his state, without transferring it through an FFL dealer in the buyers state. You can buy a gun from out of state without leaving your state: but you have to abide by the laws of your state in doing so. There are strict laws regarding shipping, or mailing guns.

I do not think there is a provision about age for possession of guns. It only seems to address age with respect to purchase.

If the lax laws next to strict laws argument were correct, then the streets of NY (strict laws) would running in blood due to the guns from neighboring VT (lax laws).
    Such is not the case

People who don’t buy guns think there’s a gun show loophole, too.

It does not appear that those strict laws are working very well.

    total BS

    http://america.aljazeera.com/articles/2016/1/11/lax-gun-laws-in-indiana-fuel-violence-in-chicago.html

“Indiana’s gun laws are relatively simple. Federally licensed “brick and mortar” gun dealers are required to perform standard background checks, while vendors selling their “private collections” at gun shows are not. An Indiana resident could walk out of the Crown Point gun show with a legally purchased assault rifle that same day — without a background check — less than an hour from Chicago, where assault rifles are banned. Handguns are subject to different regulations in Indiana”

Nonsense as usual. The guns are trafficked up the I 95 corridor. VT just isn’t that convenient.

^It's interesting to note that that graphic indicates that New York--with the strictest of gun laws--is the state supplying the most guns!

All those states up and down the I-95 corridor with lax gun laws are supplying the vast majority of guns used in NY state gun crimes. Add up all those numbers. Only a third are purchased in state. That tells me the NY laws a more effective at preventing guns from landing in the wrong hands, if they weren’t, then all the guns used in crime would be bought in state.
