Once, while living in Newfoundland, I was driving across town on Prince Phillip Drive (which is a sort of "ring road" around the city core). It was a typical east-coast Newfoundland winter day, with heavy rain working very hard to melt away the previous day's snowfall, creating large puddles on the four-lane boulevard road where snowbanks had clogged the storm drains. As I came down the hill from the Provincial Building and around the sweeping right-hand curve by the College of the North Atlantic, I spied the Mother of All Puddles in my path. Right beside it was a young lady with a large satchel and an armload of books, gingerly making her way along the semi-cleared sidewalk. I should mention that the speed limit on this road was 80 kph (50 mph), and I was likely speeding a bit. I glanced to my left for a clear lane to pull away from the puddle so to spare the young lady, but there was a large truck beside me. I checked the rear-view mirror to see if there was adequate space between me and the vehicle behind me so I might have room to slam on the brakes and reduce speed as much as possible before hitting the water, but the guy behind me was maybe two car-lengths away. So, with all options negated, I hit the puddle. The lasting image (still vivid forty years later) in my mirror was that of the horrified young lady, frozen in fear, as a wave of dirty, salty water at least a meter over her head and curling like a surfer's dream pipe, framed her in the moment before I inadvertently ruined her books, clothes, and day. With the traffic around me at speed, I couldn't even stop and help her. But I wish I had a photo, nonetheless.
Hope for the best, but plan for the worst.

At least you preserved the memory for posterity. She probably still remembers it too

When you see the full speed video it is easy to see how people could be slow to react.

No. Hell no, in fact. It snowed another six inches on Monday here; this is getting tiresome.

It looks like the woman in the white hat was recording the train coming in with her phone and stepped back a little too late, trying to get a good video.

the fact that there's snow stuck to the walls, girders, and ceiling of the train shed should be a clue
Simpler is better, except when complicated looks really cool.
