Indeed. Yes, he's still in my inbox. We also had a number of interesting conversations about Thailand... before I got there on the bike. I wish he'd hung around a bit longer. Well, a lot longer. Fondly remembered.
"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome and charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime" Mark Twain... so... Carpe the living sh!t out of the Diem

I'd rather look back at my life and say "I can't believe I did that" instead of being there saying "I wish I'd done that"

Yes , I too have kept his correspondences , he was a good bloke.
    In particular about Agent Orange.
The rest were about his generosity , he was a very helpful man.

I never had a chance to meet, or converse with him through this site, but I have spent much time searching back and reading many of his threads, and posts on others threads. I feel like he still lives through the connections he made with many here.
I've only ever met in my own life one person that affected so many people so deeply. A richness measured in life lived and shared, not in monies. Something to aspire to.

    Yes well remembered.
I have his two Vietnam threads bookmarked and look through them occasionally.
I once thought I was wrong, but I was wrong, I wasn't wrong.

He was ok with them as long as he was unaware of their proclivities.
One of the most enduring qualities of an old wooden boat is the smell it imparts to your clothing.

I won't forget him anytime soon. He was quite the story teller and was generous with help on some of my boat projects. We sat next to him at an EBS in Newport way back when...
