Default All For A Horse - The Movie

One of the most interesting profiles published in the early days of WoodenBoat was about the couple who build a steamed ash catamaran in the UK, in order to voyage to Oregon to purchase horses. I would suspect this may have come up already, but here is a short, one hopes some day will be longer:

Interesting. That sent me on a Google search to see what they had been up to after the scope of the WB article. I had often wondered, years ago, how things would turn out for them. Seems like they have had a life of adventure.

Brilliant! A wonderful bit of innovation and I think it owed a debt to James Wharram too.

WOW! As an Oregonian I'd love to see if they made it here. I hadn't seen the WB article, but I'd certainly like to see the final film.

Serious hippies, bless 'em. Home made clothes, yurty dwellings. 8 years to get going. I can think of more economical ways to reach an overseas horse market, but a dream's a dream. Nice.

They ended up with a hostel in Mexico.

I hear the movie is now ready for purchase, though the website at issue has this up on Youtube. I seems as though it could be the whole movie, so maybe they decided it was better not distributed "conventionally".

Certainly some great video of high order woodworking; Relentless work and spirit.

Sad to report that Walland passed away in 2022. He had earlier suffered a fall and broke his neck, and had many subsequent medical challenges.

Aruna with the red felt trousers... the stuff of hippie dreams. It's been posted above but here's the link for part one again...
