My sincere condolences. I'm sure your Dad will live on in your memories for a long time to come.

I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your father. My own father was slowly dying for years and I also thought I was ready for the news, but it was hard to bear when it happened. But, I still think loving thoughts of him. He does live on in my life. Once the initial grieving is over, hopefully your father can live on in you.
I was born on a wooden boat that I built myself.

Damn - very sorry! It's a tough one & I still miss mine 17 years later. While the pain lessens & we intellectually know it's a part of the natural order of things, it still sucks.

I was close to both my parents. My dad went first, and I thought it couldn't be any worse than that. But it just seems like losing your mom is the worst. Hang in there. Sending good thoughts.

It really is quite difficult to build an ugly wooden boat.

You're still here, so he isn't really gone.

But the day my own father passes is coming, and I feel for you.

I have occasionally wondered what it might be like to have a close relationship with one's parents. I last saw my father in 1976 and he is presumed dead. My mother died in my home just under three years ago and I felt very little. Sorry for your loss DMKIA, although it's a loss that is outside of my personal experience.
There is no rational, logical, or physical description of how free will could exist. It therefore makes no sense to praise or condemn anyone on the grounds they are a free willed self that made one choice but could have chosen something else. There is no evidence that such a situation is possible in our Universe. Demonstrate otherwise and I will be thrilled.

My dad died when I was 7. I remember that it was devastating, but I don't remember him. I think my memory wiped itself in self defense. I wish I could have had him to talk with as an adult. It sounds like you will have good memories. That's a good thing. Take a long walk in the woods.

When it happened to me 10 years ago, I felt literally stunned, like, ' how could this possibly happen '? This despite a two year fight with cancer.

Its a hard time, but its the natural order of things. Part of life. Be strong but lean on the people around you, eventually you'll find that he is still with you in his teachings and examples.
