Default Columbia River Maritime Museum Messabout

If there are any Portland area folks that would like a guided tour of the museum, the Coots annual visit is Friday. I have room for one more in my truck. Leaving Portland around 8:30, and gone all day. Usually includes Sam Johnson, the Ex. Dir., showing us around the non-public archives as well. Lots more boats, motors, and nifty gear. All in the company of a bunch of boat nuts. Send me a PM if you are interested.

Y'all missed a good event. Consider it for next year!

I could be tempted to make the trip for this event next year. It'd be an overnighter for me, but that's OK. We visited the museum last December. It is fascinating. Having a guided tour with Sam, in the company of other boat nuts, would be great experience.

David, could you give some advance notice next year? Thanks.

I'll try to remember to do so. If I understand the scheduling... it's typically the Friday before the last weekend in February - to coincide with the FisherPoets Gathering. If you're staying overnight... I also recommend partaking of some of the FPG offerings -- http://www.fisherpoets.org/

I've got to get back there one of these days. That USCG lifeboat has to be one of the most spectacular museum displays anywhere.

They've also got a few of Lloyd McCaffery's miniature ship models, which are amazing. Off the beaten path, but well worth the trip!
