Default Upper Napa River row, paddle and roister - 11am Saturday, Feb 17 in Napa, California

All rowers and paddlers are invited to the Upper Napa River Row & Roister on Saturday, 2/17.

We'll launch at 11 from the free ramp at the south end of Riverside Drive, right next to the Napa Yacht Club. We can stop at the public docks and hit Downtown Joe's Brewpub on the way up, on the way back, or both directions. ;-)

This is good for kayaks, canoes and pulling boats of all kinds. The Upper Napa is a tidal slough up to Trancas Crossing Park with a high tide, and once out of the urban area it is quite lovely with shady trees lining the banks.

Yay! If you run late you'll probably be able to catch us at Downtown Joes, where we'll stop for lunch on the way up. Otherwise I'm afraid we'll row faster than the high tide moves up the river, and have problems getting past Trancas bridge.

Turnout should be good, and the weather cool but sunny. We'll have to see if anyone gets hung up on a snag -- I'm bringing my famous rear-view mirror on the wherry.

I hope you all had a great time and will post pictures.

45 degrees, SE wind between 26 and 36 knots this morning. Not much small craft activity on the Salish today.

Here's my FB album with photos and videos. Largest turnout ever for this row, and although most of the TSCA boats turned back at Milliken Creek, the rest of us made it up past Trancas Crossing to the park, then up another quarter of a mile before turning back.

We filled the Napa City docks, with the powerboat belonging to some friends of ours who just happened to come up from Benecia to have lunch at Downtown Joe's -- where we ran into them!

Glad you, Hugh and Bill made it! Didn't know he had a PB 14 - very nice.
