    Default Liability only insurance?

Does anybody know of a company that will write liability only insurance for a 71 foot Trumpy? The boat while sound is undergoing renovation. Her owner is a licensed captain. Surely there is a policy available from someone. Any ideas?

Talk to the people who provide your house and other property insurance. Liability ins can be a simple rider on another policy. Cheapest and easiest coverage to get. I carried $10 million coverage for just a few hundred $ a year. No surveys or valuations required.

I was able to get liability only insurance from State Farm to meet the marina requirements. $50/year.

I had progressive liability only insurance on my 1923 falmouth quay punt for years.

I suspect any company will require a “suitability of insurance survey” before they will write a policy. (Less rigorous than a purchase survey.). This is to make sure she is sound enough so she isn’t a liability to them. I also suspect at 71 ft she is too large to add as a rider to any other policy.
I have s very reasonable liability only policy for my 33ft with Boat US and a very reasonable premium.

Hagerty classic boat insurance, I had a policy just to cover my boat while I was restoring it on the hard. They were great!
