Default Help! Who are these guys?

I took this photo at the 2004 WoodenBoat Show in Newport. Does anyone recognize these two nice looking guys? And their boat?

    Thanks.

I just looked through my WBS pics from that year but didn’t find any clues. That was the year Norm and Phyllis Messenger were there for the Show. Thad brought Sea Harmony. I think that’s when I first met Dave Tabor. Bruce Hooke was there. Pre beard even. Ken Hutchins. Hughman and family. That was the last year at the Fort before they moved the Show into town at the Yacht Center.

Fishes aren't very big, only 4' longer than H12s.

But for my records it would be really nice to get the names of the two guys.

Looks about the same size as your photo. Maybe someone at Artisan Boatworks knows them.

I suspect the boat (a Fish, I'd also say) may be one built by Stonington Boatworks so the guy in red could be one of the owners of the shop at the time, either Bill Mills or Ben Philbrick. I don't know who the younger guy is.

Thanks, Dave. It does indeed look like the man with the red vest is Bill Mills.

David Corcoran in the boat, other could be Mills but doesn't look quite like him to me, but that was 24 years ago.

Thad is correct. Dave Corcoran built a Fish so it could be his boat, not Stonington BW's and thus no connection to Mills or Philbrick. I stopped by Dave's shop in 2006 and saw his Coquina under construction, but he wasn't in. He built a whole series of Herreshoff boats and one by Chuck Paine that was an adaptation: https://www.chuckpaine.com/site2012/...t-designer.jpg

The Handy Billy Dave built was in the water at the WBS show in Newport. It can be seen here along with other photos, etc. It's nice that his website is still available more than ten years after his passing: http://bullhouseboatworks.com/project5.shtml

Was the WBS show in Newport more than one year?

I only remember one year at Ft Adams but it was at the Yachting Center earlier.

It was at the yacht center at least 2 years, as we had Neoga at the docks there for 2 years. Which years they were is something I don't remember.

The WBShow was at Fort Adams twice, I think. Then downtown at the Yacht Center 2 or 3 Times before settling in at Mystic Seaport. I can look at my old pictures tonight and check.
