We're waiting to see if Sandy can see the gaps from Mars for the Roadster.

Meanwhile, Sandy is still looking frantically for the fuel door on his 1957 Chevy...

Probably descended from the ones that destroyed Preston Tucker.

Tesla's fit and finish looks really poor on this video. That said, I can't wait until Tesla comes out with a light truck for guys like me. They're headed the right direction.

    It did - but isn't this a pre-production model?

Yeah agreed, it's hard to know what we're really looking at and if it's being represented truthfully. Stupid mass media.

EDITED - either way, I'm still impressed how Tesla is just swinging for the fences. All those things that Statler and Waldorf pointed out were just bullet points that come after the real story. The overall car and the mission behind it is 100% fantastic.

Tucker wasn't destroyed. He did quite well in the aircraft business.

Tesla has a tough road to catch up with GM's electric car program. Tesla did put Jaguar in a corner.

Yessir. Especially after watching those 2 boosters land together. [yes - we haven't hear for sure what happened to the core booster - doesn't matter]

Seems to me they had some valid points. As far as the fit and finish, maybe it's pre production, maybe not. The exterior door handles are just stupid, I suppose they never intended the cars to be used where it freezes.

I'm curious if those door handles are better or worse for a user with any sort of motor skills, vision, or cognitive disability. Actually, I'm skeptical ... but I also know the day is coming when you won't really need to touch a car for it to do its job - in the same way I haven't touched a television set in a long, long time. Elon Musk seems have a knack for getting out ahead of the curve.

it's been said that when The Big Three go full electric, Tesla will be a battery supplier rather than a car builder.

Dunno who their customers would be. GM has been making their own batteries for a long time, appears well ahead in the race to reduce cost. Tesla's flashlight battery approach is pretty unique in the electric-car business today.

I'm not sure that Elon Musk's goal is to make the perfect electric car. I think he just want to force everyone else to do it to stay competitive. He's not really playing by everyone else's rules.

The 3 may be like a "mid nineties kia" - but I've looked at older (& obviously, more expensive) ones & the fit & finish was excellent. Conventional wisdom has always been to never buy the first model year of a car...

Might note that my personal experience with Tesla's fit and finish involved a major gap in the bodywork (about 3/8 of an inch.) that was quickly corrected by pushing the body panels back together. The (rented) car itself performed quite well, until it broke down after an hour and a half of intensive driving and had to be flat-bedded way. Not that this was representative, but it did not leave a good impression. As an old British car enthusiast, I get the Tesla boosters. Still. I'm not sure this is for everybody.
