A reply I heard was "It'd have to be a $%!&hole to want to immigrate to the US while Trump is president".

There used to be these concepts called civility, decency, & professionalism. I miss 'em.

Not true, he was obviously an immoral person, who ran claiming to be the moral voice of the country. Full of platitudes about helping the working class and giving a voice to the disenfranchised.
Since he got in he's been royally screwing all of those constituents (except white supremacists) and they can't even see it.

That he is so clearly immoral speaks volumes about those fools who continue to believe and support him.

Secondly, the ethnic mix of this country will not be upset… Contrary to the charges in some quarters, [the bill] will not inundate America with immigrants from any one country or area, or the most populated and deprived nations of Africa and Asia….

Still having resources allows for more socialist practices, which makes for happier populations and less desperate measures being taken, especially with regards to how they treat the rest of the world. In short, it's a list of the countries who are most polite to their own and others.
FWIW NZ isn't particularly well endowed with natural resources, and I'm not sure I see the connection between exploitable resources and a country's reputation - whatever it is that is being measured there.
Norway is probably the only one of the whole list, that has been able/chosen to socialise massive amounts of resource wealth, and apply it to a relatively small population. Singapore (20) has zero natural resources, and they still manage to be civil to each other.
I would say that without exception, all of the top twenty countries run more "socialist" forms of democracy, and most importantly, dont tolerate the rampant bribery, er, lobbying, that appears to drive so many negative outcomes in the US political system.

Not so much a tour, this time. The idea was to pop in and "dedicate" the new embassy. But poor old Liz would have had to give him a bite to eat eat (cheeseburger and diet coke, presumably) so I don't expect she's too disappointed. Would he trust a British McDonalds? Does he take a personal food tester (who will, of course, perish, if the food is poisoned) when he travels abroad, I wonder?

Yet another Trump lie- would we expect anything else?
The embassy move plan was started under Bush; the present embassy is listed and could not be easily modified for reasons such as security.

"Nobody" cares. Or, to put it another way, Sky Blue doesn't care. Except that he does. He demonstrates that daily as he continually leaps in to deride and denigrate others who also care, but not in the way he favours.

What this country needs is some good, old fashioned, immoral leadership.

Quite a trick, justifying a man's crumminess with with his own crumminess. "Sure, he's a racist, but he's been a racist all along, so who cares."

This is true. I'm glad you came right out and said it. Let's look at this a little. Being 'moral' is not mere politeness or conforming to social convention. It is the difference between right and wrong, one of the major ways we figure how what we should do, and decide between alternatives. Mr. Trump is indeed not a moral man. He has demonstrated over and over again that he has little or no idea of right and wrong other than immediate self-interest. He has conducted US policy in a way quite consistent with this. When one is not 'moral', all that's left is power, dominance, imposing your will, taking what you can, and to hell with everybody else.

Now this is how rulers have sometimes behaved - often behaved, in fact, if one looks at history. On a personal scale, we call people who behave this way sociopaths, and try to control them. Much of human progress has involved finding ways to prevent rulers and countries from behaving like sociopaths. Examples of the contrary come readily to mind.

Is this what you want? I can understand that someone would support the policies Trump favors, but do you really think the only guide to behavior is power, and that right and wrong are irrelevant? Because this is inevitably what you get when you abandon morals.

In this particular incident, the language is not my problem, except as it shows a distinct lack of self-control - and we know that all too well already. I've been known to use worse language myself on occasion. What does disturb me is that Trump's thinking appears to be almost exactly that of the KKK when they were advocating for the Immigration Act of 1925: keep America white, exclude the lesser breeds without the law from sh!thole counties, and let in tall pale blond Norwegians. Is this really what you support?

And those $hithole countries are worth billions in trade.

(You may have to adjust the link due to a "presidential" word being censored out of it)
Trump’s ‘****hole' Countries Are Worth $46.6 Billion In Trade To America

    Graham Lanktree
    NewsweekJanuary 12, 2018
During a bipartisan meeting on immigration reform Thursday President Donald Trump fumed about how the U.S. takes immigrants from “****hole” countries. Yet the countries—and indeed continents—that angered him are worth billions in trade to America.

When lawmakers brought up protecting immigration from Africa, and the countries of Haiti, and El Salvador as part of a reform deal, Trump asked: “Why are we having all these people from ****hole countries come here?” several sources briefed on the meeting told The Washington Post and other media.

In 2015 the U.S. saw $37 billion worth of two way trade in goods with countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, which make up most of the continent, according to numbers from the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative.

The U.S. exported $18 billion worth of goods and imported $19 billion—making for a relatively modest trade deficit of $1 billion. Trump has often railed against the trade imbalance with China, which stood at a deficit of more than $300 billion in 2016.

Trade with Sub-Saharan Africa is largely made up of crude oil imports, $11.7 billion of which came from Nigeria. In December The New York Times reported Trump said last year that people from Nigeria who came to the U.S. would never “go back to their huts” in Africa. The White House denied the statements.

American trade with the other countries that Trump insulted Thursday, however, is much lower. Haiti—which the U.S. exported $1.1 billion worth of goods to and imported $899 million in goods from in 2016—is America’s 74th largest trading partner with a total of $2 billion in two way trade.

Trade with El Salvador is a little better, totaling $7.6 billion in 2015 according to the most recent data. The U.S. exported $4.3 billion to the South American country while taking in $3.3 billion in imports, making for a trade surplus on the American side. Early this week the Trump administration moved to return as many as 200,000 Salvadorians who sought safety in the U.S. following an earthquake in 2001.

A White House statement about Trump’s comments did not deny that the president used the profanity to describe America’s trading partners. “Like other nations that have merit-based immigration, President Trump is fighting for permanent solutions that make our country stronger by welcoming those who can contribute to our society, grow our economy and assimilate into our great nation,” the White House said.

“The President will only accept an immigration deal that adequately addresses the visa lottery system and chain migration—two programs that hurt our economy and allow terrorists into our country,” it said.

During the meeting Thursday the president asked “why do we need more Haitians?” and told lawmakers—including Illinois Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin and South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham—to “take them out” of the immigration reforms being presented.
