    Default Louie Sauzedde

    Friends,
Iím going to Wooden boat school this June and will come a week ahead and tour the boat building shops from Herreshoff Museum north.
As Tips from the Shipwright got me started I would love to visit Louie. As it seem near impossible to contact him, do any of you have a suggestion? Maybe he doesnít want visitors.
    Thanks for your help...

I heard him give a talk at that museum and he is very open to having visitors stop by. I recall that his shop is called the Open Door Boatshop, but haven't been there or know exactly where it is.

Have you tried contacting Halsey Fulton, his videographer? http://fishhawkfilms.com/

I believe he's in my home-town of Wickford, RI. If you're going to visit the Herreshoff museum, you could stay in Providence (where I live now) and do both. The two destinations are on opposite sides of Narragansett Bay and Prov. is at the top of the bay, so 1/2 hour from either destination.

I've wanted to drop in and visit, and the name of the shop and his demeanor certainly seem to suggest that one could, but its seems a bit of notice would avoid problems. He might be out fishing that day!

If you do decide to go I would love to tag along.

BTW, Mystic Seaport is about an hour south of Providence, and is my personal wooden boat mecca.

Louis is old school. You can call him or send him a letter. His phone number is on his fb page and the address of his shop can be found in google.

Mystic is well worth the price of admission, and if you've got time maybe go for a sail while your there!

Sure thing, Craig. I'll send an e-mail and we can work out details. If I forget, PM me on here!

I think he said on one of his videos that he is moving to another location. Not absolutely sure of that, but be worth checking.

OBTW it is Louis not Louie. His mailing address is on Enfield Ave in North Kingston but I'm not sure if that is shop, residence or which?

Btw, can anyone give us a correct phonetic pronunciation of his last name?
