Default Xmas Project: Cinematic Crabclaw Sailing Outrigger Canoe

This will be the perfect gift for my 5 year old daughter! Decided to use the same hull shaping technique I learned from building my SOF Greenland Kayak. (Lash the gunwales, jam in the spreaders).

Side note about the hull shape: according to my internet research, authenticity would dictate a completely smooth, round hull form. Obviously I have elected for more of a sharpie hull in the name of speed and ease.

I am in the running for the "messiest garage" award.

I used polyester fiberglass resin (blech) to harden the central deck. I'M NEVER USING THAT STUFF AGAIN. The fumes made me feel so sick.

    And thar she blows!
Standing about 2 feet tall and 2.5 feet long (no measuring tape was used in the making of this boat), she has working halyard, sheet, and Lazyjack? Will someone please let me know if there is a more correct term for that rope?
My daughter LOVED it, and it is sized perfectly for the 10-inch-tall figures you see in the background.

I think that would be a brailing line but I have no idea of the true pacific term.

Very cool! I still haven't seen Moana, but I want to!

    Nice present.

    Well done indeed!
    Will it sail?
    Was the little girl excited?

It's not so hard to build her the real thing, btw . . . .
