    Default "New One Design"

Not sure if this has been posted before.

Teaser - "Borges decided he wanted to build something bigger, and just big enough to actually sail. This required the model be constructed with all working parts. 'In theory, all the parts are meant to work,' Borges said. A snug pilot seat built into the miniature cabin at the bottom of the companionway allows for the model to be skippered by a set of controls from below decks, with a head-and-shoulders view of the exterior."

I visited this model a couple of times. The workmanship is stunningly good. I shudder to think how many hours it took just in machining the hardware.

I wonder if the guy ever sailed it.
I was born on a wooden boat that I built myself.

Such things as dreams are made of! Nice but I would rather have the full size version!

Well, I posted this as a one design with my tongue firmly in my cheek. I certainly find it more attractive than those mini-12m boats, but I imagine they're better sailing boats. As others have noted, tons of work in the model and the full size original is very appealing. The model is nonetheless, stunning.

And I'd suspect a well found real one would cost less
