Is there a point? So, the 5 richest counties are near DC.

    So what?

I still fail to see any sort of point here. What do MY taxes have to do with where rich people live? I'd say that those 5 counties are lucky to have all those rich people... it can only mean that there is a LOT of real estate tax revenue flowing into those cities and towns.

Not so great for the folks there who are NOT rich... but, hey, they're not, you know.... 'job creators'.

He doesn't seem to understand that Republicans live there, too... and, most likely, more Republicans than Democrats.

No, most of the wealth folks are Democrats. You see they are well educated. What people from Oklahoma would call "Elites" and think that it was an insult.

    I might disagree.

There are MANY lobbyists, for each individual legislator... and most of those lobbyists are working for corporate America, and naturally lobby hardest on Republican legislators... and those lobbyists probably live in those counties....

So, when mdh says 'follow the money', he's right... lobbying money, spread more among Republicans who are more likely to vote in favor of corporate interests.

    Part of the picture.

In those neighborhoods surrounding DC you have lobbyists, attorneys, various embassies, ambassadors and high ranking staff. Then you've got some of the high rate GSA folks who work for the government in the Pentagon, etc. There is "old money" in the area, too. There are also some first rate hospitals in the DC area with their medical staff and administrators. There's lots of money there from a lot of sources.

...and the housing wasn't so pricey.

Looked into a job in the area a number of years ago. The two biggest sticking points were the commute and the cost of housing. The job was, interesting.

I have to agree that the rich and those who want to be rich tend to be drawn to money.
